Dr. Potter is an anthropological archaeologist, focused on understanding human adaptation to northern habitats, specifically the colonization of Beringia and the Americas, post-glacial adaptations, and relationships among technology, settlement, habitat use, and social organization. He integrates various datasets and approaches (lithics, fauna, intersite variability, human behavioral ecology, GIS) to contribute to important anthropological adaptations such as high latitude adaptations and tracking coupled technological and economic change. His research has been published in Nature, Science, and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
